Portfolio — NC State University Club
Fluhrer Reed served as the structural engineer for the renovations to the North Carolina State University Club. The renovations included modifications to both the interior and the exterior of the building. Included in the scope of the renovation was an addition to the kitchen, various canopy and entry additions, rooftop HVAC equipment additions, modifications to the existing locker room facilities and the analysis of a portion of the concrete pool slab that was showing signs of damage. For the rooftop HVAC equipment additions, Fluhrer Reed analyzed the existing roof structure for adequacy. In the locker room area, our engineers analyzed the existing structure for new wall openings and the removal of existing interior load bearing walls. They designed a permanent, steel support system for the existing concrete roof joists in this area. Fluhrer Reed also analyzed the effects of the wall removal and the addition of the openings on the existing structure’s lateral system.
