Portfolio — Saxapahaw Rivermill
Saxapahaw Rivermill is a restored cotton mill that has been featured in the Washington Post and New York Times in regards to rural renaissance done right. The existing structure was extensively renovated for the new mixed uses including a concert venue, restaurants and living space. Due to the extensive new exterior openings in the multi-wythe brick walls, structural steel lateral frames were introduced to brace the walls laterally and to withstand all current wind and seismic loading requirements. Balconies at the interior and most notably the 16 ft. cantilever at the exterior pub location were designed with careful consideration to assembly loading and vibration concerns.
