Portfolio — Upper Room School
For the Upper Room School, Fluhrer Reed used a pre-engineered metal building system for the main structure and conventional steel for elements such as the exterior canopies. A hybrid system of metal building frames and interior reinforced masonry shearwalls was used to resist lateral forces. This design required a high degree of coordination between Fluhrer Reed and the metal building manufacturer since the diaphragm connections to the masonry shearwalls were critical to ensure proper load transfer.
