Summary: The Point will be the new permanent residence for NC State University's Chancellor. Located on NC State's Centennial Campus, this large home will serve as both an entertaining space for University events as well as a private residence. The need for large, open rooms to be used to host functions resulted in longer spans for the structural framing members than usually seen in residential construction. Higher than typically used design loads were also implimented in the design of the residence to account for the possibility of large gatherings in the home. Construction of The Point is underway and is estimated to be completed in 2010.
