In the design industry, time is money. So, we take pride in having engineers who not only can “put pencil to paper,” but who also are well-versed in the technology that can speed your project to conclusion. We equip our team with the latest engineering tools. We also invest heavily in continuing education to stay abreast of evolving research, regulations and industry best practices.

We are a fully integrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) design firm and we recognize it as the design process of the future. Our engineers utilize BIM technology to design and produce all of our steel and concrete projects. With BIM technology, we can link our design drawings to the structural analysis models we produce. This process allows us to integrate various building systems and reduces the time our engineers spend on the markup/back-checking process. Structural coordination between the architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems becomes easier and more seamless, helping to eliminate conflicts between the various building systems and creating a single, integrated model.


…or is it? It may have been tough for Kermit to be green, but Fluhrer Reed has been “green” for years and finds it isn’t that difficult.
For example, we routinely specify that our concrete mixes include fly ash – a byproduct of coal-powered power plants. Using fly ash makes our concrete stronger and more durable, helps us reduce a structure’s lifecycle cost and keeps waste out of municipal landfills.

We have engineered numerous projects that have attained LEED certification. Fluhrer Reed believes its team should have a thorough understanding of what it takes for a project to “go green” so we can serve as trusted advisors to our clients. We’ve invested in extensive training and members of our engineering staff are currently LEED AP certified.
